Feeding Georgia would like to thank everyone who contributed to a successful kickoff for the 13th Annual Legal Food Frenzy. King and Spalding hosted the event on April 9th at their Midtown offices where representatives of the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Georgia State Bar Association (YLD), The Attorney General’s Office, and Feeding Georgia brought together members of the legal community across the state. This year’s competition begins April 15. Registration is open now, and teams are welcome to sign up or donate anytime until the competition ends on April 26.
Joshua Kamin, Managing Partner at King and Spalding, welcomed guests https://galegalfoodfrenzy.org/#lff-kickoffand emphasized his firm’s commitment to this year’s fundraiser. Alkesh Patel, Senior Assistant Attorney General & Section Chief was on hand to present the Attorney General’s Cup to this year’s Law School Food Frenzy winner, Mercer University School of Law. This year, Mercer students surpassed last year’s donations by 40% to more than $15,000. Danah Craft, Executive Director of Feeding Georgia, highlighted the fact that donations made through the Legal Food Frenzy go directly to the local food banks. YLD President Brittanie Browning also spoke and showed her organization’s support to engage the legal community in reaching this year’s $1 million goal.
Finally, Kyle Waide, CEO and President of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, concluded the program with a poignant reminder of why the timing for this event, immediately before the summer months, is critical in helping stock food bank shelves. In Georgia, 1 in 8 kids are food insecure. For them, summer doesn’t just mean freedom from the classroom; it can also mean going without the meals they count on during the school year. That’s why we are counting on the generosity of those who can to support our food banks and combat hunger across Georgia.
Every registration and contribution, regardless of size, will play a vital role in achieving this milestone and providing essential assistance to vulnerable communities statewide. Registration is open now and we invite all members of the legal community to participate in the peer-to-peer fundraiser which runs from April 15th to April 26th.
Please join us in the fight against hunger. Register today or at any time during the competition.
