How Georgians Are Fighting Hunger—Together

Hello Everyone,

First, thank you so much for your support of the Feeding Georgia network of food banks. Together, every day across our great state, we are looking out for families and friends who are facing the burden and stress of food insecurity.

As we say often, we are a mighty network, and regardless of the challenges and changes our neighbors face, our work continues as we help those in need put meals on the table.

Stepping into the role as new Executive Director of Feeding Georgia, I am so encouraged by the warm, dynamic and supportive community that surrounds and energizes our efforts. I see you! We thank you!

It is a deep honor to serve our mission to end hunger in Georgia, and I have the privilege of representing and supporting an incredible group of food bank leaders who tirelessly dedicate themselves to figuring out how to reach and help everyone in their communities facing hunger.

You have only to look around in your neighborhoods, churches, schools, military bases, senior centers and gathering spaces to see our food banks hard at work meeting families where they are, when they need us most.

Our work is rooted in partnership and collaboration and we are so fortunate to have strong supporters.

Together, with our farmers and the support of our dedicated Georgia Department of Agriculture leadership, we are able to deliver millions of pounds a year of fresh, nutritious produce and Georgia Grown products to our neighbors. Together, with the help of our generous philanthropic partners, we are able to innovate our approach to ending hunger and access much-needed support to keep food sources flowing.

That word – together – carries special meaning for a food bank network that stretches from one end of the state to the other. There is no way we could help everybody who needs us without thinking and acting together to stop hunger in its tracks. That’s just how we do things here in Georgia.

I am so excited to begin this journey with each of you and to find new ways to work together to address food insecurity in innovative, nourishing and powerful ways. We are building on a great legacy and with such a strong foundation, anything is possible.

So, raise your hand high if you’re with me on this. Check in with us and look for information on upcoming events where you can engage and information to guide your participation.

Your support, time, ideas, resources, caring and action are so important. We can’t do this alone and we can’t rest yet. Let’s keep getting up for our neighbors and let’s make sure every Georgian has enough food, so they can go be great.

My sincerest gratitude,

Julie
